The CONGRESS: where the community meets

The congress of GIS Asie and the Réseau Asie & Pacifique is a major event in France much anticipated by researchers studying Asia and the Pacific, primarily in the humanities and social sciences. In 2011, the previous meeting brought together a total of 600 participants in parallel sessions of some forty panels selected by a Scientific Committee.

The congress is the opportunity to bring work on Asia and the Pacific to the attention of the scientific community as a whole, assess progress, and discuss projects, but also to raise the concerns of researchers and teachers.

It is one of the most important activities for GIS Asie and the Réseau Asie & Pacifique.

It is a place to meet and exchange ideas. It provides a window into the current interdisciplinary and intercultural research on Asia and the Pacific in France.

Researchers take part in thematic panels where comparative points of view among specialists in the humanities, social and hard sciences, and among academics and experts from the fields of economics, business, diplomacy and the media, are put into perspective.

The aim of the panels is to bring together participants from various cultural areas and/or disciplines; particular attention will be given to proposals made by doctoral candidates and young researchers.

See the programmes and presentations from the four previous meetings (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2011) on the Réseau Asie & Pacifique site.
